November 2021 Vehicle Recalls: What You Need to Know

This report covers every vehicle safety recall campaign that appeared in the NHTSA public database during November 2021. Our daily ingest pulled 30 campaigns from 16 different brands this month. Below is a plain-language breakdown of what was recalled, which brands were most affected, and what to do if a listed vehicle is in your driveway.

The brand with the most campaigns this month was Ram, with 4 campaigns, followed by Ford at 3. A high campaign count for a single brand in a single month isn't inherently a quality signal. It often reflects a single defect rolled out across multiple model years or configurations, or proactive self-reporting after an internal investigation. The more useful question for an owner is whether any of these campaigns actually apply to the vehicle in your driveway, which depends on the VIN.

The most common component category in this month's recalls was Air Bags, appearing in 5 campaigns. Clusters like this tend to come from either a shared supplier component used across several automakers or from a single manufacturer discovering a pattern across multiple model lines and filing campaigns together. Either way, it's worth a closer look if your vehicle sits in that category.

Of the 30 campaigns indexed for November 2021, 5 (17%)contain language about fire, crash, injury, or death in the consequence field. Those are the campaigns we've flagged as "Most Critical" below. A critical flag doesn't necessarily mean anything has happened to the vehicles on the road (NHTSA often describes potentialconsequences in the same language), but it's a reasonable filter when you're prioritizing which open recall to schedule first.

Everything that follows is drawn directly from NHTSA's public recall feed with no editorial alteration of the underlying campaign details. The grouping, totals, and "most critical" filter are computed live from that dataset by RecallScanner. If you want to verify any specific entry, the NHTSA campaign number links out to the original government record.

STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 Passport, 2016-2019 Pilot, and 2017-2020 Ridgeline vehicles. The hood latch striker may become damaged and separate from the hood, which can result in the hood opening while driving.

Risk: A hood that opens while driving can obstruct the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash.
21V925000Nov 24, 2021Ram2022 3500
AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:CURTAIN

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Ram 2500, Ram 3500, and 2021 Ram 1500 Classic pickup trucks. The side air bag inflatable curtain (SABIC) assemblies may have been manufactured with the incorrect amount of compressed gas, which can result in an improper air bag deployment.

Risk: An air bag that deploys improperly can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

AIR BAGS

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022 Super Duty F-250 and F-350 vehicles. The strength of the driver-side air bag cover may be insufficient.

Risk: During a crash, the air bag cover may break apart and project fragments towards occupants, increasing the risk of injury.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:CALIPER

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles. The rear brake linings may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can affect braking performance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk: During certain situations, the driver may have to apply more brake pedal force, and the distance required to stop the vehicle may be extended, increasing the risk of a crash.
21V919000Nov 23, 2021Jeep2022 WAGONEER
SEATS

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles. The second-row center-seat recliner pull strap may bind on the seat trim surface, preventing the seat back from locking into the upright position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 207, "Seating Systems."

Risk: A seat back that is not locked into position can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
